Lingerie and Swimwear Fabric Care - The Way to keep your treasures for longer

Fine lingerie Care
Since we want to be sure that you will treasure your fine lingerie for years to come.

We highly recommend hand washing with mild soap.
Never use bleach on your lingerie.

Machine washing may be too harsh on delicate embroideries and hooks may snag intricate laces. Hang to dry or reshape and dry flat.

Please do not dry your lingerie in the dryer, this may cause the delicate fabric and lace to degrade and damage the detailing of your bra.

For our silk nightgowns and chemises it may be necessary to pat out excess water, using a clean towel and iron on reverse side while slightly damp.

Special Care Tips for Silk Lingerie
Only pre-washed silk is washable. Read the label!
Very Gentle care is required to preserve a silk garment.

Hand wash in cool water, use a mild soap. Strong detergents weaken the silk fibre.

Wash each garment separately as dyes may bleed.

Silk is heat sensitive and will subject to fading and bleeding colours, do not soak silk or dry with heat.

Handle silk garments gently. After thorough rinsing, roll the item in a clean bath towel to remove excess moisture.

Dry flat.

Low heat iron can be used. Use a towel between silk and iron so no heat damage occurs.

For specific instruction, always refer to the garments sewn- in care label.

Silk is special. The care you give your silk garments will repay you in a prolonged garment life.

Swimwear Care

Garments containing Lycra should not be worn in the Jacuzzi, sauna, hot tub or highly chlorinated pools. We would suggest that an older garment is used as an alternative.

Always rinse in cool water immediately after use.

Hand wash separately with a mild detergent and do not use fabric conditioner.

Wash your suits separately until any excess dye washes out.

Dry away from direct heat.

Do not wring, bleach, tumble dry or iron.

Avoid excessive contact with the suntan lotions and oils.

Do not leave wet swimwear rolled up

Follow the washing guidelines supplied with each garment

Most bright coloured suits will fade in the sun. You can slow this down by soaking your new suit in a mixture of vinegar and water for 30 minutes. (1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 quart of water)

Use extra caution with holographic and metallic fabrics, they are very delicate. The metallic will eventually wear off. These suits are for show only.

Never: bleach your suit, put it in the dryer, iron it, or wash it with whites.

Do not sit on abrasive objects (sit on a towel when at the pool or on a boat.)

by By Lucy Hood ( Articel from the Advertiser)

Branded the "brassiere" by fashion bible Vogue
in 1907, the invention has undergone many changes from the flat-chested
flappers of the 1920s, to bra-burning ceremonies of the '60s and
Madonna's cone shaped bustiers of the '80s.

Stylist Lisa Cimmino said women were spoilt for choice when it came to the support staple.

"The bra is a foundation piece in any women's wardrobe. We would be lost without them," she said.

"I mean, 100 years on they are making our busts bigger or smaller, sexier or sportier."

Australian
designers are cashing in on the popularity of the bra, with such labels
as Sass and Bide and Willow showcasing luxurious lingerie lines this
season.

"It's a huge business. Just look at the celebrity
endorsements as well as stars like Delta, Kylie and Elle who all have
their own labels," Ms Cimmino said.

Do women know how to wear a bra correctly?

"You should be having your bra fitted every 12 months and have at least three bras to choose from," Ms Cimmino said.

"Always consider what bra is best when you are getting dressed as they can really make or break an outfit."

Articel by Polly in France (www.pollyvousfrancais.blogspot.com)

Summer's not over yet, so there is still ample time for Wet-T-shirt Contests. And if you want a little boost au balcon,
Wonderbra is introducing just the latest in its miracle-inducing push
up shapers: Wonderbra Nipples. That's right. According to an article in French Libération, Wonderbra has created a bra that will simulate the stimulated look.

Okay, well, whatever. I don't usually pay attention to all the fancy foam-rubber accessories of life. I hail from New England, remember?

No,what surprised me more than anything (I had presumed that such a
product already existed in worldwide girlie markets) is that the North
Carolina-based Wonderbra company is marketing this ooh-la-la item only in France.

The reason for that marketing strategy is not clear, but one can only
imagine the board room decision-making discussion. In an effort to be
responsible I searched the corporate website for Wonderbra and bust my
buttons laughing. Wonderbra is owned by Sara Lee Corporation. Right.
They sell cheesecake.

"Water Optional" for Moontides Summer 2008 Collection now also at Indulge Fashion

"Some of these pieces are so good, you may want to wear them even in
the absence of a nearby beach or pool, hence our cute phrase "Water
Optional" says Managing Director, Colleen Hart.

The anticipated 2008 range release from Moontide International is
one of the largest and most definitive to date, marking the 28th year
in the ongoing success of this Kiwi brand.

With a collection of groups almost double that of the previous 06/07
range and new innovative styling, Moontide continue their establishment
at the forefront of the fashion swimwear market.

Prints for the Summer 2008 range are heavily influenced by four distinctive themes:

Linger in an online lingerie lounge

Articel by Polly in France (www.pollyvousfrancais.blogspot.com)

It's well known that lingerie sells in France. But how did you just mentally pronounce the word "lingerie"? lon-jer-ay? lan-jer-ee? ling-er-ee (horrors)? lahnzhjree?
It's one of those pet peeves in my lexicon of unpronounceables, because
one never knows if the French way is the same as the American way of
pronouncing. Online dictionaries offer a little lesson.

Lingerie may be unpronounceable at times-- but, luckily, no longer "unmentionable." That's soo last century.

Oh,
the lure, the lore of lingerie. Paris has no fewer than 246 lingerie
boutiques -- specializing in "lingerie feminine, corseterie, et
maillots de bain." Leafing through the Paris yellow pages (les pages
jaunes) it's interesting to note the locations by arrondissement. The
1e, 16e and 17e arrondissements are tied for first place with a
whopping 26 boutiques apiece. Next in line are the 8e (21), 6e (18),
15e (15), and 9e (14). Last place goes to the 3e arrondissement, which
lists only one lonely, lovely lingerie boutique. Their wares range from
luxury "sur mesure" silk lovelies to more lusty avant-garde fabrics and
designs. Lots of lace, naturally.

The shops' names run the gamut
as well. The famous haut-de-gamme boutiques such as Chantal Thomass and
Cadolle certainly don't need my introduction. And there are well-known
chains such as La Perla, Eres, Princesse Tam-Tam, Laurence Tavernier,
and Etam.

Most of the small boutiques carry the name of a woman, presumably the owner/designer. Evocative, lilting, très feminin. Here are a few other enticing names which caught my eye on pages 1004-1005 of the pages jaunes. I am instantly smitten:

Amours Delices Orgues
Bas et Haut
Cent Dessous Dessous
Cancan
Paris Montmartre Investissements
Caprices
De Jour Comme de Nuit
Boobs Glamour
A Toutes les Filles
Dollhouse
La Dame de Coeur
Les Nuits Bleues
Merry Dreams
New Girls
Oh et Bas
Scandale
Up Style
Pour Nous les Femmes
Ultra Femme
Les Dessous d'Eve
Secret et Mystère de Femme
Soie Sauvage

Oh, you bet I'm pulling your leg about the Paris-Montmartre Investissements, right? Pas du tout! Just think about it.

(As I assemble this list I am reminded of my long-held love for quaint names of small-town hair salons in the US, such as Shear Heaven and The Last Tangle. Or my other favorite, spotted in London, called It Grows Back Anyway. But that's for another day.)

If all these ladies' seduction selections are overwhelming for you, there is another solution: Petite Coquette. Not to be confused with Petite Anglaise, La Coquette or Petite Brigitte,
some of my favorite fellow Parisian bloggers, Petite Coquette is a
French blogger, based in the UK, who writes about the luxe lingerie
industry. If you lasses are still trying to learn the difference
between a bustier, a guepière and a porte-jarretelles,
log on to Petite Coquette. Not only is her website in both English and
French, but she also tells news of the latest lingerie collections,
sales, where to buy online or in boutiques in both in Europe and the
US, with helpful sizing information, and lots more. Makes you want to
slip into something slinky.

You can't sleep in a g-string.

You can't sleep in a g-string. (by Mia Freedman - www.mamamia.com.au)

Well, you can, but you won’t sleep well.” You learn many things when
you have dinner with a group of girlfriends. This particularly
observation was made by one of my friends last week over pizza and
pinot when we became immersed in a vigorous debate about the
post-modern relevance of the g-string.

It all began with two ex fashion editors bemoaning the fact that they
now have to buy their own underwear. Quelle inconvenience. Apparently,
fashion editors on magazines receive many, many pairs of freebie
knickers throughout the year. Who knew? Not me, and I worked on
magazines forever. I do so love an industry where you can send someone
a leopard skin g-string along with a press release about your new range
of sunglasses and not only will they not take a restraining order out
against you, they’ll rush into the fashion cupboard to try them on.

Anyway, I jumped into the debate immediately and controversially. “You
know what? I think we’ve been sold a big fat lie about the Visible
Panty Line,” I declared sensationally. It was a bold statement, but one
I’d considered for some time before throwing it down on the table. Next
to the rocket and Parmesan salad.

Look,
I was always a G-string. Preferably of the Bonds hipster variety so the
world doesn’t have to see your G waving out the top of your jeans every
time you bend over. I was an early adopter of the G-string, back when
it was just beginning its migration from strippers and sex shops to the
mainstream. In the early to mid nineties I defended it from sceptics
who scrunched up their faces and said, ‘But isn’t it UNCOMFORTABLE?’
‘No!’ I insisted passionately. ‘No! You can’t feel it! Your bottom
adjusts! Try it! You must!’

But then, after a decade of G-string monogamy, I fell in love with
the boy-leg undie. So named for how it cuts across the top of your
thigh and underneath the back of your bottom instead of across-the-
buttock like a regular brief. The sides are thick. Almost like mini hot
pants. Cute. Comfy. Modern.

What distinguishes a boy-leg from a nanna knicker? Where the
waistband sits. Nanna knickers sit high, sometimes as high as your
bellybutton. Very Renee Zellweger in that Bridget Jones scene with Hugh
Grant, cavorting on the floor. In extreme cases, nanna knickers have
been known to migrate towards rib cages and even armpits.
Reassuringly,
boy-leg undies avoid the nanna trap by sitting low on the hip, a bit
like a seventies bikini bottom. The VPL is minimal because it doesn’t
cut across the cheek and sits low enough on the hip that you don’t feel
nanna-esque.

That’s how I came to my VPL conspiracy theory. The VPL isn’t nearly
as prevalent as we were led to believe by G-string peddlers, I argued.
“I can wear my boy-leg undies under my skinny jeans without a problem.”
Cue more debate. More pizza. Here’s where the conversation meandered to
from there:

Friend #1: “I still wear g-strings under tight clothes. The bigger
your bum, the more problems you have with VPL. It’s a bigger surface
area. More room for error.”

Friend #2: “ “I once slept in my g-string by accident after a big
night and it was awful. I only ever usually sleep in boy-legs.”

Friend #1: “Do you really sleep in undies? I never do. My mother taught me that my lady garden needs to breathe overnight.”

Friend #3: “My four year old saw me in a G-string the other day and asked ‘where are the rest of your undies mummy?’”

Friend #4: “We were talking about it at home one night and my
boyfriend confessed he doesn’t like g-strings. It was such a relief! I
hate them.”

Friend #5: “My husband is very sad about the decline of the g-string
and the rise of the big brief. He’s happy to see me in any state of
undress but if given a choice, he does prefer a G-string.”

Friend #2: “Oh men, prefer no undies, let’s be honest.”

Instead of taking the second-hand word of women on the crucial
subject of Which Undies Do Men Prefer, I thought I should ask some
people who have penises. Straight from the horse’s mouth. Or rather
pants.

“G strings are just a bit 2000 and rarely sexy,” said a 29-year-old
male friend. “Only the very firmest bottoms look good in them. As a
single guy you rarely get to see more than a flash of G while they’re
being peeled off – think about it - and only the genetically gifted
parade around in them.”

And this via email from a single 38 year old who has seen a female
undie or two in his time…”The rise of the floating G back or whatever
it is called, has ruined it for me. There are few public displays that
can turn a bloke off more.... A G-string grappling up over a pair of
too low cut jeans, trying to rest somewhere near a girl's
mid-back….that’d have to be a close second to public vomiting.”
“At least with a floating G, you don’t have to hold her hair back” I replied.
Then
there’s this from a 40-something married bloke. “They look so bloody
uncomfortable it’s no wonder smart girls are tossing them in favour of
those more sexy low cut hipster Bonds ones with a proper bottom. Surely
the G-string’s place is back in the eighties when they were worn for
special occasions under particularly tight fitting outfits to avoid
VPL, and coupled with shoulder pads.“

Finally, this salient observation from a newly divorced man who is
dating again after a 10-year hiatus. “You don't really see many body
suits anymore. Weren't they a treat with the silver press studs hidden
somewhere between Brazil and Tasmania……”

When French Men Talk about Lingerie

Story by Polly (http://pollyvousfrancais.blogspot.com)

In anticipation of holiday gift-giving, this week's Madame Figaro is dedicated almost entirely to jewels: gems, gold, pearls, rings, necklaces, watches, you name it. Then, in the middle of the issue there is a one-page editorial break from the stream of bauble promotion. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the bra, the Madame Figaro staff polled six of France's most famed séducteurs -- ladies' men -- to scout out their preferences in lingerie on the bodies of the women they adore. Clearly when it comes to lingerie, one size doesn't fit all French male libidos.

As Madame Figaro advises, "Ladies, take notes!" (Men, too, I might add.) PG-13.

1. Pascal Elbé, Actor
"Even though I'm among men who love lingerie, I am more of a fan of Calvin Klein bikini bottoms than the lace-and-French-cancan mode. On the other hand, however, I do have one unforgettable memory of a science professor I once had who wore a garter belt; I can tell you that I switched my class seat immediately from the balcony to the front row. Unfortunately, I didn't make strides in the subject matter. But I had a perfect attendance record in class all year."

2. Samuel Etienne, Journalist
"At 15 years old, I liked lingerie that exposed as much as possible, since I was young and curious about the female body. At 20, I preferred lingerie that covered as much as possible, giving me the desire to remove it -- quick quick quick. At 25, lace scared me; it was too evocative of the mysteries of a woman. I preferred women in cotton, which was more reassuring. Since hitting my 30s, I don't have preferences anymore. I listen, to to hear what this or that lingerie is saying to me about the woman who is wearing it. But, well, sometimes my ears don't hear anything, so I let my eyes roam over the curves of her body. Promises of heaven in a world of hell."

3. Pascal Bruckner, Writer
"The only shops that make me stop in my tracks are the lingerie boutiques. Inside, everything is set up to put the female body to its best advantage. Sexuality is transformed into eroticism. I like La Perla, Sabbia Rosa, and even Princesse Tam-Tam. I often give lingerie as a gift -- of course, it is above all a present to oneself. I like the bordello antechamber style, old-fashioned prostitute: lots of lace, bustiers that lace up -- even if they're complicated to untie -- silk, satin... everything that gives to the act of lovemaking the refinement that it otherwise lacks. Lingerie defines and isolates certain parts of the body, just as desire does. For me, that immediately stirs up fantasy."

4. Pierre Arditi, Actor
"No lingerie means no eroticism -- or at least very little. A naked female body, as beautiful as it may be, is not very erotic. One must create the fantasy, inspire desire, and thus not show everything all at once. I remember as an adolescent the way my whole body heated up when my then-girlfriends let a bit of their garter be seen... Magnifique. For me, there's is nothing uglier than pantyhose. Same goes for thongs: I'm not swayed by them. I remain an ardent admirer of little underpants."

5. Frederic Taddei, Journalist and television commentator
"To me, lingerie is a piece of clothing like anything else. I have neither a taboo nor a fetish about it. When a woman wears fancy lingerie, that seems normal to me; when she doesn't, that doesn't seem like a big deal either. What excites me is the woman herself. The way she works with what she's got. I'm not turned off by any one thing. On the woman in my life, I like everything."

6. André, Artist, owner of the Hotel Amour and the Baron.
"Lingerie is like putting a matte around a painting: it frames the subject. I like garter belts, couture stockings, the nostalgic side of lingerie -- classic and timeless -- a bit like Betty Page. It has to stay light. In fact, I prefer when there isn't any underwear at all. It gives a feeling of freedom."

Okay, ladies, the Gods have spoken. Get out those Christmas wish lists. Are you sure you really want a diamond under the tree this year?

Madame Figaro article compiled by Peggy Frey, Morgane Miel, and Astrid Taupin

By Sam Brett (Ask Sam - http://blogs.smh.com.au/lifestyle/asksam/)

I like my music; I like my women wild.
Yeah, an' I like my women just a little on the trashy side,
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick an' er too much rouge,
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused.
An' I like my women just a little on the trashy side.

-	Confederate Railroad

Sultry chef Nigella Lawson, the doyenne of seduction, recently revealed her ultimate secret to seducing a man. No, it's not her gingery-hot duck salad, her "slut-red raspberries in Chardonnay jelly" (although there's no doubt in my mind that it would work wonders) or her white chocolate and passionate mousse. Instead, by her reckoning, it's what she wears in the bedroom that really does the trick: stockings, stilettos and nothing much else.

"Stockings never fail to make you feel sexy," she pouted to Esquire magazine. "I like hold-ups, but the problem is if you've got too much meat at the top, you get a bulge there. So I often wear those over-the-knee French schoolgirl socks. But I know men like the whole strappy thing of suspenders, so I'll wear them. I've worn them with nothing but a pair of shoes in bed before."

Such an outfit sounds fit for the woman dubbed "queen of food porn" - a title applauded by men and scoffed at by other women. And it seems Nigella knows all too well that men go wild for women who play up their sexy, sultry and trashy sides. And why not? Just like we can't tear ourselves away from trashy films, trashy novels or trashy parties (they are the most fun, aren't they?), men often find themselves drawn to trashy women too.

But can it go for far? ...

"Between my best friend and I, I'm the more conservative one," writes disgruntled female reader Miss T to me in am email. "I never get any male attention," she scoffs. "My friend walks around in a tiny miniskirt, cleavage and heels while I like wearing flats and T-shirts. And she seems to attract all the men!

"She isn't that smart but somehow they all want to talk to her and not me. I am not bad looking and I am wondering why men seem to be more attractive to trashy women. Is it the same reason why women like bad boys? Is it that they inherently think they have some secret power that will change them into classy women? Or are they just ridding themselves of their trashy women fantasy before they settle down with someone more realistic?"

An unofficial poll of gents around town finds that dating trashy women is every male's ultimate fantasy. "It's having a woman do all the naughty things good girls don't even dream of," reveals one gent who currently sports a blonde ex-stripper as his glorified hand bag.

Taking a quick trip back through history, it seems nothing much has changed. Lilith, the biblical woman serpent who maliciously tempted Eve with the forbidden apple in Eden was the original girl who used her seductive charms to get what she wanted. Then there was Mae West, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna who all bought into the trashy girl persona, melting and breaking hearts, while pushing new fashions to the fore. (Who can forget that cone-shaped bra?)

So what is it about trashy chicks that men fall hopelessly in love with?

"It's the thrill of the chase and knowing that every guy in the room secretly wishes he could take her home for just one night," laments one trashy-girl aficionado. "They're exciting and scary at the same time. They keep me on my toes and I never know where I stand with them. I love it."

Yet, while the trashy girl may sound appealing at first (and she's great to show off to mates), the truth is she often isn't the one men end up buying the ring for.

"Trashy girls are fun for a night, a week, even a couple of months," says one newly-hitched gent who's had his fair share of clueless bleached-blondes. "But after a while you can't even have a proper conversation with them and you suddenly realise that life is about a little more than knee-high boots and booty."

Geoff Barker, author of What's On a Man's Mind, concurs. "Men need four basic needs to be content," he tells me when I ask him what it is men want. "Men need the four Ls - Loved, Laid, Looked after and Left alone. They need a perfect balance between the good and the bad girl."

So ladies, perhaps the trashy girl is good for a few dates, but if she doesn't have a serious side to satiate his hunger for a little more, it seems she'll be out the door before you can pull on those suspenders ...

Every garment in the
LuminoGlow range of lingerie is made with fantastic European stretch
lace that glows in the dark. The front and back of each garment glows
when the lights are out!!! There are some added fabric that don’t
glow in the dark, like stretch silk satin that looks very alluring,
feels beautiful on the body and adds extra sex appeal!

The
lace is exquisite to touch and feels soft against the skin. The glow in
the dark yarn has been woven into the lace so you only see it when the
lights are off (it even glows on the inside!). During the daylight, the
lace has no glowing effect but it’s an awesome thought that you are
wearing lingerie that glows in the dark!

This is the
initial range from LuminoGlow but if you watch the website regularly,
you will see additional styles gradually being added.

LuminoGlow
Lingerie glows brilliantly at night. It has been pretty hard to capture
this glow in front of the camera, be it video or stills. The reason for
that is usually light is put on to a subject to take a photo. In the
LuminoGlow Lingerie case, the actual lingerie emits a light that is
difficult for the camera to detect without a flash. You can’t see the
true effect of the glow in the dark until it is in front of your eyes.
Then you will truly enjoy it!

To see the lace glow in the
dark you have to hold a strong light close to the lingerie for about
one minute. Make sure the room is in total darkness (not even a peak of
light) and you’ll see the sexiest pieces of lingerie you could imagine!

How long does the lace glow for? Well, probably long enough!!!!

This is new, this is fun, this is seductive and this is definitely sexy...

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A diamond thong worth S$168,000 ($122,000) was
the highlight of a lingerie fashion show in Singapore on Thursday.

The
Triumph Luxurious Diamond Thong had 518 brilliant-cut diamonds,
totaling 30 carats, studded into the front of a black lace thong in a
floral pattern. The skimpy underwear that left little to the
imagination also had 27 white gold tassels hanging off it.

Danielle
Luminita, a brunette model from Romania, was carried down the runway on
the shoulders of two male models wearing only the diamond thong.

"It is very comfortable, it's not heavy or scratchy or anything," Luminita told Reuters backstage.

A
spokeswoman for Triumph International, the lingerie company that
commissioned the thong, said that the thong would be dry cleaned before
going on display.

"It's a signature piece, obviously we aren't going to sell it," she said.

Measuring Tips for Le Mystère No9

Measuring Tips for Le Mystère No9

Le Mystère No9 is a collection of innovative, designer bras incorporating patented technology to compliment the unique changes in shape and size that occur after a breast augmentation

Le Mystère No9 is available in sizes 30-36 C, D, E, F (8-14 C, D, E, F).

The rounder, deeper and more forward shape cup fits the spherical surface of the augmented breast.
Designed with a wider center connector to allow the underwire to anchor properly on the breastbone.
Le Mystère No9’s underwire follows the perimeter of the circular breast implant.

Important Note - Many women are a different size in Le Mystère No9 than in a conventional bra.

Due to specially designed changes in cup depth and shape, wire shape and distance between the cups,
Le Mystère No9 fits the enhanced shape differently than conventional bras.

For the most accurate measurements, remove upper garments, but keep bra on.

BAND SIZE: With tape measure around upper torso, above the bust and under the arms, take a snug
measurement. Make sure the tape is straight and flat across the back and parallel to the floor. Pull the tape snug. Round the measurement to the nearest even number either up or down. Enter this number in the space marked “A” below.

Example:
tape measurement is 30 3/4”, band size is 30
tape measurement is 35 1/4”, band size is 36

CUP SIZE: Standing with arms at sides, measure at the fullest part of the bust with the tape parallel to
the floor. Do not pull the tape snug, rather pull the tape just gently enough to keep it in place. Round
up or down to the nearest full inch. Enter this number in the space marked “B” below.

To determine cup size, subtract A from B

Bust measurement ________ (B)

Band (above bust) measurement	minus	________ (A)

Difference in inches will determine cup size: _________

3“ indicates C cup

4“ indicates D cup
5“ indicates E cup

6“ indicates F c

Example: 38“ Bust measurement
- 34” Band measurement
= 4“ Inches for cup

4” indicates D cup

Final bra size - 34D

Le Mystere No9 is available at www.indulgefashion.com.au - click here

STELLA McCARTNEY TO LAUNCH LINGERIE COLLECTION

London (July 30th, 2007): Stella McCartney
announces today a long term partnership with Bendon, one of the world's
leading intimate apparel companies, to manufacture and distribute a
Stella McCartney lingerie collection. The first collection, for
spring/summer 2008, is set to launch in stores in January 2008.

The
lingerie collections will combine Bendon's expertise in functionality
and fit with Stella's unique design sensibility, signature color
palette and attention to detail to create aspirational styles that will
reflect a modern woman's lingerie needs.

Stella
McCartney comments: ''This is a natural progression for me. Lingerie is
an obsession of mine, I have been inspired by it for many, many years
and ever since my degree collection at St Martins, I have always used
it in my work.’’

The lingerie collection will
have an emphasis on naturally sexy, confident and modern designs. It
will be constructed from luxurious fabrics including finest silks,
organic cottons and georgette silk chiffons in a signature Stella
McCartney palette of soft and utterly feminine shades of vintage pink,
cream, blue and pearl grey.

Marco Bizzarri, CEO
of Stella McCartney added: “This is a real partnership with Bendon and
a unique opportunity for Stella McCartney to address her sensibility
for lingerie. This is a product category that requires a high level of
technical knowledge. By combining our different expertise, we will be
able to achieve a high quality garment with a unique point of
difference in the market.”

George Brooks,
Bendon’s Executive Chairman, says the new licensing agreement further
supports Bendon’s fashion focus and global expansion: “Bendon has
already shown its huge growth potential across international markets
and this is another significant deal in consolidating its international
position.”

Bendon CEO Stefan Preston says the
agreement between Stella McCartney and Bendon brings together business
partners with complementary values: “Bendon’s commitment to design
innovation and product integrity is in keeping with Stella McCartney’s
reputation for creating beautiful garments that women love to wear. The
combination of Stella McCartney’s design talent and our expertise in
intimate apparel construction will result in the creation of an
exceptional collection of lingerie. Bendon is frequently approached
with licensing opportunities but Stella McCartney stood out as a
significant partner for the company.”

The
Stella McCartney lingerie collection will be available for market in
August and will launch in high end department stores, specialty stores
and Stella McCartney stores worldwide in January 2008.

Celebrities including stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones and
former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones also joined the 11th annual
Playtex MoonWalk, which is aiming to raise over £6 million for breast
cancer causes.

The 15,000 walkers, including about a thousand
men, wore elaborate bras decorated in keeping with the night's theme of
Bollywood meets rock 'n' roll. Setting off from Hyde Park on Saturday
evening, they trekked 26.2 miles through the capital by moonlight.
Organisers described the event as a "great success" and said they were
looking forward to next month's MoonWalk in Edinburgh.

Dutch designer's racy display

Bold, confident, sexy and never demure - the lingerie of Dutch designer Marlies Dekkers adorns the Rotterdam Kunsthal art gallery to mark 15 years of an illustrious career.

Black dominates the collection on display in a two-month exhibition, with hardly a spot of white or touch of colour to break the contrast against the artificial, pale mannequin skin.

But the most striking constant, the signature on the majority of the g-strings, guepieres (a type of corset) and bras she designs: the straps.

One, two, sometimes three straps cross a breast, creep around a neck, snake across a hip in Dekkers' distinctive seal which has characterised her collections throughout the years.

"I tell the same story repeatedly. There is nothing wrong with that," she told reporters at the opening of the exhibition.

Her lingerie, said the designer, "is perfectly adapted to the female body".

And why change that, "since that is what pleases them?"

Having started with a grant from the Dutch ministry of economic affairs, it took hard work and a lot of persistence to get Dekkers to where she is today, having built up a niche empire of nine boutiques from Rotterdam in her mother country to Paris and New York.

Starting her career from her top-floor apartment in Amsterdam in
1993, Dekkers managed within four years to become a supplier to 40 outlets around the world - doing everything, from the design, sewing, distribution and publicity, herself.

Her real break came four years later when the Kunsthal in Rotterdam invited her to stage an exhibition - the first of its kind in an art gallery anywhere in the world and firmly putting her on the map.

The very next year, she was invited to design a collection for a big Dutch brand, and by 2000 she had boosted her number of outlets to 300.

Today she has 1,000, and receives regular fan mail from happy clients.

Having won several awards, including the Dutch Businesswoman of the Year and the CILA Award in New York for best fashion lingerie, both in 2007, Dekkers counts among her clients such well-known singers as Christina Aguilera, Diana Ross and Kylie Minogue.

And now she returns to the Rotterdam Kunsthal, lifting a corner of the veil over the universe in which she finds her inspiration.

A hotchpotch of famous quotes and classical art pieces are used to illustrate her thinking - from the ancient Greek philosopher Plato on love, French poet Charles Baudelaire enthusing about the garter belt, and excerpts in Dutch from French author George Bataille's novel The Tears of Eros displayed in flashing letters.

A table by painter Piet Mondriaan and chair by furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld, both fellow Hollanders, represent Dekkers' work in "the Dutch design," according to her spokeswoman Annabel Cnossen.

And to illustrate her erotic influences, the exhibition uses a drawing by Picasso and oil canvasses of South African painter Marlene Dumas.

But many a visitor is left at a loss in the jumble, confused about the link between the masterpieces and the tiny fabric artworks created by Dekkers.

The artist defends her references.

"Plato, Nietzsche, Borges, Antonioni, Greenaway, Fassbinder, Botticelli: each artist or writer who said something sensible about love, about relations between the sexes or the portrayal of the (female) body, is adopted and incorporated into her thinking, and finally in her work," explained Cnossen.

Tellingly, the works of photographers Helmut Newton and Nobuyoshi Araki, best known for their erotic images of the naked female form, are also on display: titillating, alluring ... like Dekkers' lingerie.
